When you have beautiful things around you, everything seems pleasant..
A beautiful thing can be a nice painting, a pretty scenery or even a nice garden..
It’s the third one that I am going to talk about..
Back home (in Kerala) we have a moderately big garden.. With lots of flowering plants, herbs, vegetables and some trees even.. But here in Bangalore, court-yard filled with soil or a lawn or a patio is a luxury that only some can afford.. When life shifts to apartments and high risers from single houses and countryside, gardening becomes a hobby that many cant indulge in.
I should confess that I like to get down and dirty when it comes to plants.. The feel and smell of fresh soil and the sight of a new berry gets me all excited..:-)
I have started up-cycling when it comes to planters these days.. soda bottles are my new best friends.. They come in different sizes and shapes.. varying from a tiny 250 ml bottles to comparatively big two or may be two and a half liter bottles..:)
I am not a big fan of “flowering” plants..Well almost all the plants flower.. But I am talking about growing the ornamental ones that are only planted for their flowering property.. Roses and hibiscus and all.. You get the point don’t you??
Any ways as of now I have a couple of potatoes, onion and garlic plants… The cherry tomatoes and green chillies are still sprouting in the paper cup seeding containers before i finally transfer them into the soda bottle planters..
I hit jack pot when a search for alternative/ up-cycled planters on Google took me to Pinterest.. I realized that anything and everything that could hold some soil in it could be used as a planter.. By anything I mean ANYTHING.. From books to bottles to shoes to bathtubs..
I am sharing some images that I found on the INTERNET here.. Just as an inspiration to all the plant lovers out there..
Phew..!!! last one.. its kind of addicting when you start looking at this stuff.. hope you enjoyed reading this entry as much as i liked writing it..
